About the Exclusive Four-Week Guitar Courses:

In these free four-week courses, Berklee Online provides exclusive educational content that will strengthen your strumming, teach you new chording techniques, open your ears to alternate tunings, improve your fluency with tone, dynamics, and control, and more. All courses feature informative video lectures, exercises, and quizzes, and are taught by professors from Berklee College of Music’s esteemed Guitar Department.

The Courses

In Guitar Chords 101 you’ll learn open major and minor triads as well as major and minor barre chords. You’ll also experiment with chord inversions, including augmented and diminished chords, and discover the subtle beauty of 7th chords and Drop-2 voicings.

Guitar Scales is a thorough exploration into the workings of the major scale. You’ll learn how to construct these scales across the fretboard in several different keys and in several different positions. You’ll also examine minor pentatonic and minor blues scales and learn how to improvise with these new skills.

In Acoustic Guitar Techniques you’ll uncover the basics of Travis picking as well as other unique strumming techniques. You’ll learn how to play in open triad tunings, how to play in Dorian, Mixolydian, and Lydian modes in open tunings, and more.
